A WORKSHOP PROPOSAL

Tasmeem Doha 2015 “3ajeeb!”
An International Art & Design Festival, March 2015
Virginia Commonwealth University in Doha Qatar

In this workshop, which this blog presents, VCUQatar students would be introduced to the material and architectural culture of Al-Andalus (Muslim Spain, 711-1492 A.D.), and invited to design an alternative tour of the Great Mosque of Córdoba, a magnificent example of Moorish architecture which every year embraces in its two-colored iconic arcade more than a million visitors. Art History and Fashion and Graphic Design students would work, and play, together in order to offer an unexpected, unusual, lively, participatory, and playful interpretation of this World Heritage Site, a "3ajeeb!" tour both in its concept and in its staging which attendants to Tasmeem Doha 2015 would be the first ones to experience.

The following images aim to illustrate some of the contents that would be covered in the workshop, as well as the resources that we would be using.
